I need help accessing the event on October 16th. Whom can I contact?
You can reach HILT on conference day via email at hilt@harvard.edu.
How will the virtual conference work?
Conference plenary sessions, breakout sessions, and networking spaces will take place virtually in various Zoom Webinar and Meeting Rooms. Only registered participants will receive links to join our programming. If you haven’t registered for this event, you can do so via this link (HarvardKey login) no later than Thursday, October 15th at noon EST.
In the afternoon, on Thursday, October 15th, all registered participants will receive an email from HILT (hilt@harvard.edu) with links to join networking sessions and the morning plenary on Friday, October 16th. Please take a moment to upgrade your Zoom application to at least version 5.3.0 in preparation for networking sessions.
Breakout session links will be sent via email from HILT (hilt@harvard.edu) to all registered participants in the morning on Friday, October 16th.
Why do I need to upgrade my Zoom application to at least version 5.3.0?
In Zoom Meeting versions 5.3.0 and higher, attendees are able to self-select breakout rooms when prompted. We will be using this Zoom Meeting breakout room feature during our morning and afternoon networking hours.
Who attends the HILT Conference?
All current roles (faculty, staff, students, researchers, etc.) within the Harvard community are welcome to register for the event (HarvardKey login). This event is currently closed to those outside the Harvard community, but video recordings of most sessions will be available on our website roughly 2 weeks after the event.
I’m interested in the event, but my schedule won’t allow me to attend all of the sessions. Will the conference be recorded?
Yes. Most sessions will be recorded and those recordings will be available on our website roughly 2 weeks after the event. Those who subscribe to our mailing list will receive notification once all session recordings are available to view.
Will I appear on the recordings?
You might. Sessions being held in Zoom Webinar will not record video and audio from participants, but will record both from designated panelists or speakers. Sessions being held in Zoom Meeting will display participant video and audio when turned on. All participants provided consent to be recorded upon registration. If you have any questions, please contact us via email at hilt@harvard.edu.
Will any part of the conference NOT be recorded?
Yes. The morning networking session and the lunchtime networking session will NOT be recorded.
What is the difference between a Zoom Webinar and a Zoom Meeting?
In Zoom Webinar format, only designated panelists will have video and audio enabled. Participants will engage with panelists through the Q&A function and, in some cases, the chat function. In Zoom Meeting format, any attendee will have the option to turn on their video and audio. For more details please review this Zoom article comparing the two formats.
