2023 HILT Conference
The 2023 HILT Conference comes at a pivotal time when artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly discussed and experimented with in higher education. AI holds immense potential to enhance personalized learning experiences, automate administrative tasks, and provide data-driven insights to improve educational outcomes. However, its deployment also raises important questions and challenges. It is crucial to address concerns related to privacy, bias, transparency, disinformation, and the impact on human agency and social dynamics within educational settings. Together, we will explore how AI can be designed, implemented, and governed in a way that prioritizes human relationships and connection in education. By considering the ethical and social implications, as well as the affordances, we aim to shape a future where generative AI tools are used to empower learners, support educators, foster inclusivity, and promote a holistic approach to education. -

Identifying knowledge gaps through illustrations
Dr. Carl Novina, Associate Professor of Medicine, and his co-instructor Shannon Turley, amended the traditional graduate seminar Critical Reading for Immunology to teach students comprehension and presentation skills essential to a career in biomedical science. -
A Virtual public forum and online resource platform for speaking and communication
Awardees will film a series of interviews (inspired by "Harvard Writes") to convene a campus-wide conversation on the role of spoken communication in teaching, scholarship, and collaboration. -
Learning and teaching negotiation and conflict resolution skills to enhance patient safety in the OR
Awardees plan to enable learners to apply principles of negotiation and conflict resolution in the high-stakes operating room environment, with the ultimate goal of improving medical teamwork and patient safety. -
HBS Roland Christensen Center for Teaching and Learning
Provides coaching, consultations, workshops, research, and resources for case method and participant-centered teaching to HBS instructors. -
Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning
By supporting experimentation, innovation, and evidence-based practices, the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning seeks to create transformational learning experiences for faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates in Harvard's Faculty of Arts and Sciences. -
Cabot Science Library
Cabot is Harvard's principal general science library. In addition to serving undergraduates, the library has research collections in mathematics, statistics, earth and planetary sciences, psychology and science-related interdisciplinary studies.
