The annual conference convenes Harvard-affiliated faculty, staff, students, and other academic professionals to explore how we can make teaching and learning at Harvard more engaging, rigorous, and relevant. Our hope is for the 2026 HILT Conference to carry forward the [momentum of last year’s approach](https://hilt.harvard.edu/event/2025-hilt-conference?occ_id=0), which explored a wide range of timely topics in higher education, rather than focusing on a narrow theme. On May 4, 2026, we launched a Call for Proposals (CFP) survey to surface and showcase a variety of approaches and hear from a wide range of voices across the Harvard community. **The CFP closed on Friday, June 12, at 5:00pm EST**. While HILT cannot guarantee that all submitted proposals will be selected for presentation at this year's conference, we value every contribution. Proposals are currently under review. Recommendations will be made to VPAL Leadership for final approval. **All submitters will be notified of final decisions in July**. **Registration for the conference will open in late August.** Check back here for updates. Email . ## Background The Harvard Initiative for Learning and Teaching (HILT) annual conference is an event designed to engage Harvard faculty, students, and academic professionals in a university-level dialogue about teaching and learning innovation. ### The goals of the HILT Annual Conference are to: - promote dialogue across Harvard’s campuses about educational innovation, including constructive discussion of provocative, thoughtful, and contrasting perspectives; - provide examples of experimental approaches and research studies that generalize across academic fields, in particular, those that help faculty think through how to experiment in their own teaching with the practical insights that come from those examples; and - expand the network of Harvard scholars, instructors, senior leaders, academic professionals, and students who are improving educational practice. HILT strives to make our programs and activities inclusive for everyone.
