Grants Program

The 2017-2019 HILT Grants Program offers three mechanisms:

  • The Advance Grant application will open January 11, 2017.
  • The Spark Grant for Collaboration, Research, and Student Engagement application will open March, 2017.
  • The Spark Grant for Students application will open October, 2017.

Advance Grants ($25K)

Designed to help previous HILT grant recipients extend the scale and success of a prior HILT grant project. 

Funding level:up to $25,000
Application deadline:February 8, 2017
Funding term:July 1, 2017 - December 31, 2018
Eligibility:Harvard University benefits-eligible faculty, staff, and postdoctoral researchers who have previously been awarded 2012-2016 HILT Grant funding are eligible to apply, individually or as groups, for funding associated with the same project.

Spark for Collaboration, Research, and Student Engagement ($15K)

Designed to help “spark” promising teaching and learning projects from idea to reality and position innovations for future success. 

Funding level:up to $15,000
Application deadline:April 5, 2017
Funding term:July 1, 2017 - December 31, 2018
Eligibility: Harvard University benefits-eligible faculty, staff, and postdoctoral researchers are eligible to apply for funding, individually or as groups.

Spark for Students ($10K)

Designed to help students identify new and inventive ways to improve their own learning or that of their current and future fellow students. 

Funding level:up to $10,000
Application deadline:November 1, 2017
Funding term:January 1, 2018 - June 30, 2018
Eligibility:Harvard University students from any School enrolled in a full-time degree program at the time of application.
